Toxic side of fashion / El lado tóxico de la moda

Fashion is one of the most passionate things in the world, but unfortunately there are some brands that forget the environment just to make the items more fashion forward industry.

Last year Greenpeace launched the Detox campaign, a movement that encourages fashion houses to create clothing that does not destroy our planet.

More than 400,000 people have joined the campaign from November 2012, making that the world's largest clothing shop (Zara) and the largest producer of jeans on the planet (Levi's) agree to clean up toxic products discarded.

  

La moda es una de las cosas que más apasionan en el mundo, pero lamentablemente hay algunas marcas que se olvidan del medio ambiente con tal de hacer los artículos más fashion forward de la industria.

El año pasado Greenpeace lanzó la campaña Detox, un movimiento que incita a las casas de moda a crear ropa que no destruya nuestro planeta.

Más de 400,000 personas se han unido a la campaña desde noviembre de 2012, logrando que la tienda de ropa más grande del mundo (Zara) y el productor de jeans más importante en el planeta (Levi’s) se comprometan a limpiar los productos tóxicos que desechan.

So far, 17 major textile companies, including Inditex, owned Zara, Bershka and Pull & Bear-established commitment to Detox, however, Greenpeace has tracked each to know who provide transparency in their supply chains and who continue to do business as usual. This has been split into the Leaders (those that offer credible deadlines and implementing concrete actions); greenwashers (who have commitments Detox unfulfilled promises and provide weak) and Laggards (not yet committed and refuse to take responsibility for their toxic trail ).
The goal is that by January 1, 2020 none of the companies use hazardous chemicals and global supply is environmentally friendly. If you are interested to know more about this initiative visit the section.

Hasta el momento, 17 grandes empresas del sector textil, entre ellas Inditex, dueña de Zara, Bershka y Pull & Bear, han establecido su compromiso con Detox, sin embargo, Greenpeace ha realizado un seguimiento a cada una, para saber quiénes brindan transparencia en sus cadenas de suministro y quiénes continúan haciendo lo mismo de siempre. Para ello las ha dividido en Líderes (las que ofrecen plazos creíbles y la aplicación de acciones concretas); Greenwashers (quienes tienen compromisos Detox incumplidos y brindan promesas débiles) y Rezagados (aún no se comprometen y rehúsan a tomar la responsabilidad de su rastro tóxico).

La meta es que para el 1 de enero de 2020 ninguna de las empresas utilice sustancias químicas peligrosas y el suministro global sea amigable con el ambiente. Si te interesa saber más de esta iniciativa visita la sección.

To me Peruvian cusine is listed as "exotic" food, I have discovered on Sunday. Today no need to be a snob to be aware of what will bring when ordering a convincing leapt lomo, a mild  hen chili or guards there have against the hot pepper.

In this context, it is always pleasant to meet with surprises and new versions of what at times has become a standardization of the flavors of the northern republic. That's what gives the Inca Pacha Restaurant , where venture with a personal look.

In the beginning of 2010 were just seven tables, located in what is now the first section of the local settled in Cumming Avenue, abundant gastronomic sector where a corner dedicated to the flavors of Lima and surroundings needed. Slowly the restaurant has grown thanks to having quality and good prices on the menu, have attractive offers and happy hour of pisco sour between 18.00 and 22.00 hours.

Para mi la cocina peruana aparece como comida "exótica" la he descubierto este Domingo. Hoy no es necesario ser un sibarita para estar al tanto de lo que a uno le depara al ordenar  un convincente lomo saltado, un suave ají de gallina o los resguardos que hay tener frente al rocoto.

En este contexto, siempre es grato encontrarse con sorpresas y nuevas versiones de lo que a ratos se ha vuelto una estandarización de los sabores de la república del norte. Eso es lo que ofrece el Restaurant Inca Pacha, donde se aventuran con una mirada personal.

En el comienzo del año 2010. Eran siete mesas, ubicadas en lo que hoy es la primera sección del local asentado en la Avenida Cumming, sector de abundante oferta gastronómica donde hacía falta un rincón dedicado a los sabores de Lima y sus alrededores. Despacio el restaurant ha ido creciendo gracias a que tiene  calidad y buenos precios en la carta, tienen atractivas ofertas y happy hour de pisco sour entre 18.00 y 22.00 horas.

I’ve lost count of how many of my favorite home decorating newstand magazines have been shuttered in the past few years. But, are magazines disappearing or simply being reinvented online?

As we watched one magazine after another,  the internet was becoming much stronger, and all of a sudden bloggers, who had previously been considered rambling amateurs, were creating amazing blogs and websites. Bloggers weren’t taking the place of magazines—instead they were delivering information in a more personal, different way. Some took it one step further and began inventing ‘online’ magazines, which would try to give the reader the same magazine—like reading experience of flipping pages and, unlike magazines, deliver the timeliest content possible.

He perdido la cuenta de cuántas de mis revistas de decoración del hogar favoritas antiguas y nuevas se han sido perdiendo en los últimos años . Pero , están desapareciendo las revistas o simplemente siendo reinventadas en línea?

Mientras observábamos una revista tras otra, internet se esta convirtiendo en algo mucho más fuerte, y de repente los bloggers, que previamente habían sido considerados los aficionados de forma diferente, estaban creando blogs y sitios web increíbles . Los bloggers no estaban tomando el lugar de las revistas - sino que estaban entregando información de una manera más personal, diferente. Algunos tomaron un paso más allá y comenzó a inventar revistas ' en línea ', que tratarían de dar al lector la misma experiencia de lectura de una revista como de pasar las páginas y a diferencia de las revistas, entregar el contenido más oportuno posible.

You Shall Not Pass, Dog

Every 8th of December

Like every 8th of December, I remember with a lot of love and affection how my grandmother and my mother cut roses in our garden. We put on nice dresses, and arm in arm we were going to the beginning of the month of Maria, to a grotto of the Virgin close to our home, in front to the hospital where I was born, in a town called Linares.

I remember my grandmother fixing her hair in front of the mirror with a comb, like the ones my grandfather sold in his shop. He had everything I could  imagine and recognize... on the shelves and all the small drawers (to me, it was like thousands).
I remember my mother put pins in her short hair, to create small curls, which she then combed neatly and put on hairspray. Most of my childhood memories are from there, in these precious images, which now have a big space in my heart. 

Grandmother, I wish you were here and the three of us again were arm in arm, with a bouquet of roses, to go and see our Virgin on this special day. I miss you!

Como cada 8 de diciembre, recuerdo con mucho amor cuando con mi abuela materna y mi madre cortábamos rosas de nuestro jardín, nos poníamos un lindo vestido y tomadas del brazo íbamos a el inicio del mes e María a una gruta de la Virgen cerca de casa, en frente del hospital en que nací en una ciudad llamada Linares.

Recuerdo a mi abuela arreglar su cabello en frente del espejo con una peineta de las que mi abuelo vendía en su tienda. El tenía de todo cuanto yo pudiera imaginar y conociera...en sus estanterías y muchos pequeños cajones (para mi, eran miles).

Recuerdo a mi madre poner pinzas en su pelo corto para crear pequeños bucles los que luego peinaba con esmero y ponia laca sobre el. La mayoria de mis recuerdos de niña estan alli, en esas imagenes tan preciadas, las que hoy tienen un gran espacio en mi corazón.

Abuela ojalá estuvieras aqui y fueramos las tres tomadas del brazo con paquetes de rosas a ver a nuestra virgen en este dia tan especial, te extraño

How things like this can happen? / Como estas cosas pueden pasar?

I teach my kids to understand that all life is important and I see them behave in a human and responsible way, and it makes me feel very proud of them. In the early morning today, my daughter found this box with three kittens on the way to school, and she returned home crying, and asking for help for them.

Enseño a mis hijos a entender que todo tipo de vida es importante y verlos actuar de forma humana y responsable me hace sentir muy orgullosa de ellos. Mi hija hoy temprano en la mañana encontró esta caja con 3 gatitos en el camino al colegio, se devolvió a casa llorando a pedir ayuda para ellos.

They are in poor condition and they are not more than a month and a half old. We will see what the vet says when he sees them. Someone had put a paper in the box saying "hopefully someone can take care of them, because in our house there is no space, but open your heart and not throw them away, in advance thank you very much"

And  what they have in their heart to abandon them to their fate?... Space? how much space could they occupy while they are small and are looking for a home among neighbors or friends?

"Why pick up and save animals?? Because there are people like them that throw them away!"

Estan en malas condiciones y no tienen mas de un mes y medio, veremos que dice el veterinario cuando los vea. El papel pegado en la caja decía: "ojala puedan cuidar de ellos, porque en nuestra casa no hay espacio, pero abran su corazón y no los boten, de antemano muchas gracias"

Y ellos que tendrán en su corazón como para dejarlos abandonados a su suerte?...espacio? cuanto espacio podrían ocupar mientras están pequeños y se les busca un hogar entre vecinos o amigos?

"Porque recojo y salvo animales??? porque hay 

gente como ellos que los bota!"
